Moving from a standard "sit back and watch" world into a "lean forward and interact" world provides some great opportunities. Sure, there's improved advertising to consider, but that's just the start. American Idol proved that people like influencing their viewing experience. Digital Video Recorders show that people want their TV when they want it. What can the audience expect from Internet TV, and how will today's experiences fulfill the promise?



David Eckoff, Vice President, New Products, Turner Broadcasting

David Eckoff is Vice President, New Products at Turner Broadcasting, responsible for overseeing the development, evaluation and launch of new products across the Turner entertainment, news and animation divisions.

Previously Eckoff was Senior Director at RealNetworks, Inc. While at Real, he led the breakout hit "CBS Big Brother 24/7", invented the first of its kind online digital media marketplace, and developed live online sports broadcasts. He also negotiated deals with CBS television, FOX Sports, ESPN, Conde Nast, Rolling Stone, McAfee and more.

Before joining Real, he was Senior Vice-President at Rivals.com, a 180-employee private company funded by Hummer Winblad, Intel, Softbank and News Corporation (Fox). While at Rivals, Eckoff developed the Rivals.com branded sports news network destination, grew its audience from startup to 1.5 million users per month, and led the company's transition to paid online subscriptions.

Prior to joining Rivals, he was at IBM Corporation.

Eckoff holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina.



Daphne Kwon, CEO, ExpoTV

Daphne Kwon co-founded ExpoTV, www.expotv.com, which is distributed through partnerships with the world’s largest portals including Yahoo!, AOL, Google and YouTube; to leading ecommerce destinations like Smarter.com and Buy.com; and to more than 25 million digital cable homes through VOD partnerships with Comcast, Time Warner, Charter, Verizon and other cable operators. Prior to founding ExpoTV, Kwon served as Chief Financial Officer and a founding employee of Oxygen Media, overseeing finance, business development, and technology. Prior to joining Oxygen, Kwon reported to the President of the Disney/ABC Cable Networks as Director of Business Planning, which resulted in the successful launches of Toon Disney, SoapNet, and the Lifetime Movie Network. Prior to moving to ABC, Kwon worked in Disney’s Corporate Strategic Planning Department, where she was responsible for business planning of the media company’s television, film and recorded music divisions. Daphne holds business degrees from Harvard Business School and the University of Michigan.



Marcus Morton, Co-Founder and President, Network Foundation Technologies

Marcus Morton is President, CEO, and Co-Founder of Network Foundation Technologies (NFT), a company focused on bringing television-style, advertiser-supported broadcasting to the Internet. NFT's patented distributed online broadcast technology enables the streaming of live and pre-recorded content to large audiences at a fraction of the cost of traditional CDN-based solutions.

Marcus Morton began his entertainment career in the music industry rising to Vice President with EMI Records, transitioning to the film industry and producing a number of successful movies such as the number one film "You Got Served." His film company, Mission Control Entertainment, has a co-financing distribution deal with the world-renowned film company MGM/UA.

In 1999 Marcus co-founded OneNetNow.com, which he successfully sold to EarthLink in 2001.



Catherine Tait, CEO, iThentic

Catherine Tait is a founding partner of Duopoly, an independent production company based in New York City that also provides marketing and business development services to the entertainment industries in Canada and the United States.
Most recently, Ms. Tait founded www.ithentic.com in New York, an online and mobile video content company dedicated to bringing the best in independent production to digital platforms.

Ms. Tait has over 25 years of experience in the public and private sector media business, in a variety of senior executive roles in both Canada and the United States. Prior to Duopoly, Ms. Tait was President and Chief Operating Officer of Salter Street Films and led the company’s successful IPO on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1997. She also spearheaded the company’s bid for digital broadcasting licenses including the Independent Film Channel Canada. Salter Street Films’ productions included LEXX, THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES, MADE IN CANADA and Michael Moore’s THE AWFUL TRUTH and Academy Award-winning BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE. Her tenure ended with a sale of the company to Alliance Atlantis Communications in 2001.

Prior to Salter Street Films, Ms. Tait was Executive Director of the Independent Feature Project in New York, the largest organization of independent film producers in the United States. Prior to the IFP, Ms. Tait managed policy and planning for Telefilm Canada, and served as Canada’s Cultural Attaché to France. Ms. Tait is a Director of Entertainment One and has served as a Director of ALIANT Inc. and CHUM Ltd.


Henk Van Niekerk, VP of Operations, MediaZone, Inc.

Henk Van Niekerk serves as the Vice President of Operations for MediaZone, offering a strong understanding of emerging digital and web technologies and how they are evolving and impacting content consumption and user participation. Before joining MediaZone, Henk served as the Vice President of entertainment and consumer services for CNET News.com Networks, directing CNET Networks' gaming and entertainment vertical. He was involved in the managing and guiding of editorial content, video production, user base, subscription revenues and community services including GameSpot, the leading source of information, community and game play services for video and computer games and GameFAQ's.com.

Mr. Van Nielkerk also served as the Senior Director of publisher licensing services for IGN Entertainment (FOX Interactive) overseeing all business development and sales operations of the business division, as well as managing relationships with all major publishers and developers. Prior to this role he served as Director of Licensing for IGN Entertainment overseeing the GameSpy in-game technology licensing and service business division, increasing top line sales in 2003 by more than 100% and added more than 30% direct contribution to the company bottom line.

Henk earned an economics and finance degree from the University of Stellenbosch in Stellenbosch, Western Cape Town, South Africa, and currently resides in Oakland, CA.
