While at Rivals, Eckoff developed the Rivals.com branded sports news network destination, grew its audience from startup to 1.5 million users per month, and led the company's transition to paid online subscriptions.

Prior to joining Rivals, he was at IBM Corporation.

Eckoff holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina.

Prior to being named Chairman in September of 2007, Bart served as the Company's CEO from November 2004 and General Manager and SVP of Operations since shortly after its founding in 2000. Bart brings more than 20 years of broadcast management and production experience to The FeedRoom, having served in senior positions at several major television news networks. Most recently Bart was News Director at WABC-TV, the Disney/ABC flagship station in New York. Yuval Fisher, Chief Scientist and Founder, Envivio

Dr. Fisher conceives, plans, and advocates major research and development activities which have led to the creation of innovative features for the Envivio product line. David Foote, CTO, Hitachi Telecom USA

Mr. Foote is the Chief Technology Officer for Hitachi Telecom USA. He is currently responsible for strategic product planning and technical marketing of optical transport, fiber access, data switching and cellular systems. He has been instrumental in establishing Hitachi’s network systems business with major North American telecommunications carriers like Sprint, Time Warner, and Global Crossing. Mr. Foote has been a member, contributor, and committee chairman in leading standards organizations such as the IETF, OIF, ANSI T1, IEEE 802 and the ATM Forum. Committed to improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee DTV standards, Mr. Goldman was a co-developer of the Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) standard, which is used by DTV receivers to navigate and tune to broadcast DTV services. He also has been influential in other industry organizations including the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, and the Consumer Electronics Association. Recent stints have included the standardization of MPEG-4 AVC and SMPTE VC-1 video codecs.

Until 1996, Mr. Goldman was a Consulting Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was the systems architect for a first-generation digital video server system. From 1996 to 2000, he was Director of Engineering, Advanced Systems Development, at DiviCom Inc., where he specified MPEG-2 based systems solutions. Prior to joining TANDBERG Television Inc., he was a technology consultant specializing in DTV system solutions and expert witness research; one of his projects included the definition of the broadcasting industry’s first compressed-domain high definition program splicer.

Mr. Goldman received bachelor (high honors) and master of sciences degrees in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He holds six patents related to digital video transport. He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers. He has also presented papers and tutorials, as well as participated on panel discussions at numerous industry events.

Mike Gordon is responsible for ensuring that Limelight's technologies and services support the emerging digital media strategies and business models of today's media companies. Robert Hagens, CTO, Envysion

Robert Hagens is CTO of Envysion, a provider of web-based video management services for multi-location businesses. Rob is responsible for Envysion’s hardware and software technology. Previously, he was senior vice president at Level 3 Communications, where he was responsible for the design and development of the Level 3 infrastructure, including the IP/MPLS network, the voice network and the development of Level 3's softswitch. Prior to joining Level 3, Rob was director of Internet engineering at MCI Telecommunications Corp., where he was responsible for the architecture and engineering of MCI's Internet backbone service. He has an MS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a BA in Biology from Carleton College.



Jessica Hawk, Director of Online Video, Associated Press

Jessica Hawk is director of online video at AP which includes oversight of product development, customer relations and support, technical development and operations relating to AP’s online video products. She works closely with the editorial team that produces AP's web video as well as manages the relationship with MSN, who AP partnered with in 2005 to produce its newest online video product, the ad- supported Online Video Network (OVN). Since the OVN's launch in early 2006, it has grown to include over 1600 affiliates and has just recently added a local video component that enables all members of the Network to layer in their locally-produced video on top of the national and international video AP is offering. Before becoming involved with video, Jessica ran the company's product and project management group in its Technology division.


Eyal Hertzog, Founder & Chief Creative Officer, Metacafe

Eyal Hertzog is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Metacafe, a place where artists create, consumers interact and technology enables communication. Prior to co-founding Metacafe, where he drives product innovation and content strategy, Mr. Hertzog co-founded Contact Networks in 1998, one of the first interpersonal, professional online networks. At Contact Networks, he was responsible for overall product strategy and overall technical architecture, and managed strategic relationships with Nokia, GemPlus, Comverse and other large partners. He has also advised US and Israeli high-tech startups on strategy, product roadmaps and technology architecture, and worked with Israeli venture capital firm Millennium Capital Venture as an investment advisor. Mr. Hertzog got his start in the technology industry in the Israeli army, where he served four years as an IT department manager for the Intelligence Core. After leaving the military in 1997, he joined serial networking startup Class Data Systems as an application marketing engineer. The company was later sold to Cisco for $50 million, and Mr. Hertzog invested his windfall from the deal into his first startup, Contact Networks.

Dan Holden, Comcast Fellow / Chief Scientist , Comcast

Dan Holden is a Comcast Fellow and Chief Scientist for Denver-based Comcast Media Center (CMC). In this position, Holden is responsible for providing technical and strategic leadership for the CMC.

Holden, a 16-year veteran of television, joined the Comcast Media Center in 2002 as a Video of IP Engineer. Since then, he has led the engineering efforts for the CMC’s content distribution platforms, including video on demand, broadband television, and user generated content. Prior to joining the CMC, Holden served as the architect for AT&T Broadband’s telephony provisioning systems. Beforehand, Holden served on the engineering team at CableLabs as a senior consultant for Go2Broadband, Holden also served as the CIO of Weather+ and led the Transmission Manager efforts for Encoda systems.

Holden’s current focus at the CMC includes defining its strategic direction for interactive television, advanced advertising, and content delivery. He holds a M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from Regis University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Holden is actively involved in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and the Society of Cable and Television Engineers.

Denver-based Comcast Media Center (CMC), a business unit of Comcast Cable, provides a Total Content Solution for cable system operators and members of the content community, including television programming networks, independent producers and advertisers. CMC’s products include its HITS all-digital platform of over 200 linear digital video and audio services; an Advertising Distribution Network (ADN) for centrally managing cross channel promotions and advertising; and a video on demand (VOD) platform serving over 15 million VOD-enabled cable households. Dr. Mike Hollier, CTO, Psytechnics

Dr. Mike Hollier is a technical and commercial pioneer in perceptual engineering.
He directed BT’s research into audio, video and multimedia performance assessment for nearly a decade before leading the incubation of Psytechnics Ltd. in 2000. He left BT to become Psytechnics’ CEO and since October 2002 has served as its CTO, acting as their technology evangelist, driving business development and overseeing the research and development of a new generation of voice and video products.

Dr. Hollier is a Chartered Engineer, twice winner of the Alan Rudge Award for Innovation, a fellow of the University of Essex and member of the IOA and AES.


Mike Hudack, CEO, President and Co-Founder, blip.tv

Mike Hudack is a co-founder of blip.tv and serves as the company's president and CEO. He is responsible for blip.tv's overall business strategy, focusing in particular on community relations along with syndication, distribution and advertising partnerships.

Prior to blip.tv, Mike worked as a developer and administrator for the National Hockey League, where he managed the team responsible for one of the biggest IT projects in the history of the League — consolidating and re-developing the NHL's internal applications, which serve hundreds of employees using dozens of technologies. Mike also developed the content management system for NHL.com and redesigned the software used to bring scores and statistics from dozens of simulraneous hockey games to fans in real-time.

Brian Kahn, Director of Engineering for Content Personalization, SeaChange International

Brian Kahn is the Director of Engineering for SeaChange International’s emerging content personalization area. Based at the company’s headquarters in Acton, Mass., Kahn manages and generates the product strategy for several software product lines for SeaChange.

Kahn has a detailed background at SeaChange in digital advertising insertion and On Demand Solutions. Since joining the company in 1997, Kahn has played an integral role in the launch of a number of the company’s solutions, including the release of the industry’s first live TSI (transport stream insertion) system as well as the company’s Axiom Recording System.

In 2004, Kahn oversaw a team that built and released SeaChange’s QuickSilver content prep tools application, one of the most powerful and efficient tools on the market that ingests any form of content.

An active member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), Kahn initially authored the standard procedure for delivering advertisements in digital television. He has also helped define numerous standards for targeted advertising in both linear and on-demand content.

Sandy Malcolm, Executive Producer, CNN.com video

Sandy Malcolm is executive producer of CNN.com video. In that role, Malcolm oversees all of CNN.com’s video content on the Web site and for CNN Mobile.
Named to her current role in September 2003, Malcolm played an instrumental role in the development and relaunch of CNN.com, the latest evolution in online news that resulted in an intuitive, integrated Web site that puts users within a click of the global, national and local news and information they find most relevant to them. In addition to her duties with CNN.com, Malcolm handles CNN content provided to Comcast and Time Warner Cable for cable on-demand usage.
Before CNN.com, Malcolm served in a variety of production roles for CNN, including CNN International and CNN/Sports Illustrated. Sean Mccarthy, Ph.d, Fellow Technical Staff, Motorola

Dr. Sean McCarthy brings to Motorola a unique convergence of expertise in video compression, signal processing, and the neurobiology of human vision. Sean’s main job is to improve professional MPEG-4 encoders by advancing the state-of-the-art in video processing and compression science. Sean had similar responsibilities previously as Chief Scientist at both Modulus Video, which is now part of Motorola, and at ViaSense, a UC Berkeley spin-off that developed commercial applications based on expert knowledge of the human visual system. Over the years, Sean has led the development of a number of technologies that optimize video compression, enhance visual displays, extract natural features from images and video, and quantify perceptual quality. The author of several papers on retinal processing, Sean holds several patents on image and signal processing. Dr. McCarthy is on the board of the MPEG Industry Forum and a member of the IEC publications advisory committee. Sean earned his Ph.D. in bioengineering jointly at UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco.

Dennis A. Miller, General Partner, Spark Capital

Mr. Miller was most recently a Managing Director of Constellation Ventures. Prior to Constellation Ventures, Mr. Miller served in a number of high level executive positions at leading media companies. In this capacity, Mr. Miller was integrally involved in Lions Gate’s aggressive acquisition and growth strategy which in two years, acquired a film production and distribution entity, an animation company, a film studio plant, and started a television division.

Prior to joining Lions Gate, Mr. Miller was Executive Vice President of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). Mr. Miller was responsible for the television operations of SPE, and was actively involved with strategic planning and new media programming . During Mr. Miller's tenure, Sony's new media division launched its primary internet initiative - the Sony Station. Mr. Miller's divisions included over 750 individuals with annual revenues of $1.4 billion and EBITDA of roughly $180 million.

From 1990-1995, Mr. Miller was Executive Vice President of Turner Network Television, with responsibility for production, business affairs and original programming for the TNT Network, overseeing all aspects of the network's operation. Mr. Miller’s responsibilities included oversight of 100 million in annual original programming, scheduling and marketing both the NBA and the NFL programs and the management and day to day operations of a 256 person team. During this period, Turner Network Television grew from 34 million subscribers and 240 million in revenues to 55 million subscribers and 525 million in revenues with 150 million in free cash flow. In 1997, Mr. Miller took on the additional responsibility for the Turner Entertainment Company, which spearheads the utilization of Turner's library of more than 3,000 motion picture titles.

Mr. Miller began his career as an attorney with Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg and Phillips in Los Angeles. He received his Juris Doctorate from Boalt Law School at the University of California at Berkeley in 1982.

Antonio Otalvaro, Chief Creative Officer, Barrio 305 / Taste Digital Media

Antonio Otalvaro, a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York, is the Chief Creative Officer and Producer for Barrio 305. Following his graduation he worked as a freelance editorial illustrator and as a creative assistant at McCann Erickson and DMB&B. His most notable work as an illustrator was a highly prestigious commission to showcase the Advertising Club of New York's Andy Awards Annual in 1996. In that same period his work as a designer was also recognized when he was selected to participate in the Art Director's Club first ever exhibition of "New York's Most Wanted Young Gun's" exhibit. Following these accomplishments he was invited to contribute as a conceptual artist at Fabrica, the Benetton Think Tank in Italy. Michael Sprague, President and COO, Wavexpress

Donna Stokes, Social Media Manager, Hewlett-Packard

Donna Stokes is Social Media Manager for HP’s Imaging and Printing Group (IPG). In her role, Donna oversees the design and operations of IPG’s community, viral and UGC (user-generated content) interactive marketing programs worldwide. Video is core to the mix, as demonstrated with this fall’s launch of HP Uncut - a video sharing program which connects HP employees and customers through self-produced videos.

Donna has over 15 years of experience in B2B and consumer marketing. She helmed HP’s award-winning Graphic Arts interactive program and the highly successful Resolutionaries campaign. A former television development executive and producer (credits include “America’s Funniest Home Videos”), the convergence of digital and traditional media is a communication revolution Donna has anxiously anticipated to come. She holds a BS from Emerson College.


Catherine Tait, CEO, iThentic

Catherine Tait is a founding partner of Duopoly, an independent production company based in New York City that also provides marketing and business development services to the entertainment industries in Canada and the United States.
Most recently, Ms. Tait founded www.ithentic.com in New York, an online and mobile video content company dedicated to bringing the best in independent production to digital platforms.

Ms. Tait has over 25 years of experience in the public and private sector media business, in a variety of senior executive roles in both Canada and the United States. Prior to Duopoly, Ms. Tait was President and Chief Operating Officer of Salter Street Films and led the company’s successful IPO on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1997. She also spearheaded the company’s bid for digital broadcasting licenses including the Independent Film Channel Canada. Salter Street Films’ productions included LEXX, THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES, MADE IN CANADA and Michael Moore’s THE AWFUL TRUTH and Academy Award-winning BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE. Her tenure ended with a sale of the company to Alliance Atlantis Communications in 2001.

Prior to Salter Street Films, Ms. Tait was Executive Director of the Independent Feature Project in New York, the largest organization of independent film producers in the United States. Prior to the IFP, Ms. Tait managed policy and planning for Telefilm Canada, and served as Canada’s Cultural Attaché to France. Ms. Tait is a Director of Entertainment One and has served as a Director of ALIANT Inc. and CHUM Ltd.



Dave Tansek, CEO, MTDSystems

Dave Tansek is currently CEO of MTDSystems. MTDSystems is a software company that creates Monitor, Control, and Processing software for Broadcasters, Retail businesses, and Digital Cinema facilities. Dave has worked in the professional video and broadcast industry for more than 36 years. He was the Sr. Product Manager for Network Systems at Sony for 12 years. He also managed Service for complex video/audio and IT systems for Sony for 10 years. Dave has designed and implemented expert systems and he designed and built News playout systems, built data analysis tools for VTRs and designed multiple coprocessor controller systems for editing systems.


Ariel Topf, President & CEO, Imvite

Ariel, 45, serial entrepreneur, co-founder and manager of 14 startups on three continents.

By age 24, Ariel had already built companies employing hundreds in the retail industry, food and clothing manufacturing, restaurant industry and advertising.

Ariel moved to Canada in 1989 from his native Peru. In just 3 years he had built a sales force of 19,000 reps. selling pet food “door-to-door” in Canada and USA.

In 1995, Ariel co-founded the Canadian Employment Network, a high-tech enterprise to match job seekers with employers. This #1 fastest growing franchise company in Canada turned into WSI (#1 franchise in the Internet and Technology category of Entrepreneur Magazine's Annual Franchise 500 for six consecutive years (2002 - 2007). WSI is the world's largest network of Internet consultants.

Just prior to Imvite, Ariel co-founded TouchLogic, (computer telephony), developing Internet ready IVR products and services for large North-American corporations.

Ariel's was also a professional soccer player and has a Bachelors degree in engineering.




Kevin Towes, Technical Product Manager, Flash Media Server, Adobe Systems

Kevin Towes is the technical product manager in the Dynamic Media Organization at Adobe Systems, responsible for defining, delivering, and supporting Adobe streaming video products and services. In his role, he manages products related to Flash Media Server and Flash Media Encoder, collaborating with the core product team, partners, professional services, business development and sales groups to define product releases and deliver solutions to the market through complete product development lifecycles.



Prior to Adobe, Towes spent 13 years working as a prime consultant enabling customers with Flash-based communication, collaboration, social media and video streaming solutions using Flash Media Server. Towes’ Flash Media Server Live Video work with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) led to an Emmy nomination in 2004.



David Trescot, Vice President, Rhozet Business Unit, Harmonic Inc.

Mr. Trescot is responsible for managing the Rhozet business unit at Harmonic, Inc. Rhozet’s transcoding solutions are used to rapidly convert video between all major formats for broadcast, Web and mobile applications, and are in use by such companies as CNN, BBC, ESPN, Yahoo!, MSN, and Amazon.com.

Most recently CEO of Rhozet Inc., Mr. Trescot held several senior management positions including Vice President of Product Management and Marketing for Avvenu, Inc. Prior to Avvenu, he managed the Digital Video Group at Adobe and was responsible for the product direction and marketing for Adobe’s entire range of media applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore, and Audition. Mr. Trescot earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.


Paul Turner, Vice President of Product Marketing, Omneon Video Networks

Paul Turner is Vice President of Product Marketing for Omneon Video Networks, responsible for overall product strategy at the company. Mr. Turner brings with him over 30 years of experience in the broadcasting industry in Europe and the USA, starting his career as an engineer at the BBC in 1980. Since then he has held Engineering and Senior Management positions both in the USA and the U.K at the Grass Valley Group, Abekas Video Systems, Scitex Digital Video, Sony Electronics and, most recently, Pinnacle Systems, where he held the position of Director of Product Marketing for their Storage, Switcher, DVE and Character Generator product lines. Mr Turner holds an Honors degree in Electronic Engineering from Liverpool University in the U.K.


Henk Van Niekerk, VP of Operations, MediaZone, Inc.

Henk Van Niekerk serves as the Vice President of Operations for MediaZone, offering a strong understanding of emerging digital and web technologies and how they are evolving and impacting content consumption and user participation. Before joining MediaZone, Henk served as the Vice President of entertainment and consumer services for CNET News.com Networks, directing CNET Networks' gaming and entertainment vertical. He was involved in the managing and guiding of editorial content, video production, user base, subscription revenues and community services including GameSpot, the leading source of information, community and game play services for video and computer games and GameFAQ's.com.

Mr. Van Nielkerk also served as the Senior Director of publisher licensing services for IGN Entertainment (FOX Interactive) overseeing all business development and sales operations of the business division, as well as managing relationships with all major publishers and developers. Prior to this role he served as Director of Licensing for IGN Entertainment overseeing the GameSpy in-game technology licensing and service business division, increasing top line sales in 2003 by more than 100% and added more than 30% direct contribution to the company bottom line.

Henk earned an economics and finance degree from the University of Stellenbosch in Stellenbosch, Western Cape Town, South Africa, and currently resides in Oakland, CA.



Morgan Webb, Host, Webb Alert

Morgan Webb is host of the Webb Alert (www.webbalert.com), a daily video report covering the day's developments in tech news, video gaming, gadgetry, and digital culture. Morgan Webb also hosts the popular TV program X-Play. Available in over 62 million homes and well past its 500th episode, X-Play is TV's longest-running and most-watched series focused on videogames. She was rated the 51st sexiest woman in the world in 2007 by the readers of FHM, but what truly inspires loyalty in her legions of fans is the fact she is as steeped in technology as they are. A web engineer before stumbling into a career in television, Ms. Webb has been building and modifying her own computers for years, and is a lifelong hardcore gamer.


Daniel Webster, SVP Product Development, The FeedRoom

Daniel brings over 20 years of broadcast media and convergent technology experience to The FeedRoom. Just prior to joining The FeedRoom in 2000, Daniel played a number of key roles in the CBS Television Stations Division, most recently as News Director for KPIX in San Francisco where he oversaw news and operations, including the station website. Previously he was News Director at WTVT/Tampa where he created one of the first interactive newscasts, and has been a recipient of numerous awards in television news. Life in television began for Daniel at ABC Networks, where he quickly became a champion of digital communication and its possibilities when computers were first introduced there. He earned a BA in Development Studies, University of East Anglia, England.


Ben Weinberger, CEO & Co-Founder, DigitalSmiths

Ben Weinberger co-founded Digitalsmiths in 1998, and has grown the operation from a two-person college business into a market-leading technology company. Digitalsmiths entered the entertainment industry in 2001 when it introduced its proprietary technology platform, Media Access Pro®, a ground-breaking software platform allowing clients to search massive amounts of film and television content in a simple and methodical way. Daisy Whitney, Contributing Writer, TelevisionWeek

Daisy Whitney has written for a number of publications including TelevisionWeek, Advertising Age, Shape, Business 2.0 and The Denver Post. She is currently TelevisionWeek's new media reporter, extensively covering broadband video, interactive television, video-on-demand, mobile programming, digital video recording and high-definition television. In particular she has examined the impact of new and emerging technology on the advertising industry. She also writes regularly for Advertising Age and Media covering trends in television, online and advertising. As an expert on new media technology, Daisy consults on new media and speaks regularly at industry events. She also served as a guest commentator on Clear Channel-owned 850 KOA radio in Denver. Her freelance articles have appeared in Canada's The Globe and Mail, Miami Herald, New Media Age, Extra Extra, Multichannel News, Natural Health and Consumers Digest. Daisy graduated from Brown University in 1994 with a degree in art history.


Tom Wilde, CEO, EveryZing

Tom Wilde is a widely recognized leader in the field of Internet search and online advertising, and prior to becoming PodZinger’s CEO has held numerous leadership roles in the field, including SVP/GM of the consumer division at domain portfolio company NameMedia; senior vice president and general manager of MIVA Inc.'s North American division, responsible for both MIVA's U.S. online advertising network, as well as the company's consumer business; and senior operating roles managing Terra Lycos' global search and publishing divisions. Tom has also served on the IAB Search Engine Committee and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.


Carol Wilson, Editor-at-Large, Telephony magazine

Carol Wilson returned to Telephony in 2004 as editor-at-large. She has been covering the telecommunications industry for the past 21 years. Over that period of time, she was a founding editor of two magazines – Inter@ctive Week and The Net Economy – as well as a news and information Web site, Broadband Edge. Carol began her telecom career as news editor at Telephony in 1985, becoming editor three years later. She previously covered higher education for Magna Publications, and covered politics, entertainment and business for The High Point (N.C.) Enterprise. Ms. Wilson began her career as a sports writer for the Enterprise. She is graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a B. A. in journalism. She has received publishing awards from the North Carolina Women’s Press Association, the Computer Press Association and the American Society of Business Press Editors.


Alan Young, Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, SES Americom

A member of the Management Committee, Alan Young is responsible for SES AMERICOM's technology strategy and investments supporting next generation applications and services, information systems and services, and spectrum and orbital slot development. Mr. Young has extensive R&D, telecommunications, engineering and technology experience gained in diverse business environments, from financial services to media and entertainment. His background includes executive technology assignments leading emerging technology development, information security services and strategic vendor partnerships for Citigroup. Prior to his seven years with Citigroup, he was the Vice President of Engineering for Viacom's MTV Networks, responsible for the technical aspects of their global satellite distribution including the transition from analog to digital. Before Viacom, he spent three years in various technical assignments with British Telecom.
A fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, and a holder of two patents, he was awarded a Masters in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of York, United Kingdom.
